Finals live on BBC Red Button from 14:00 BST on Sunday, 24 June.England’s Luke McCormack, Peter McGrail, Cheavon Clarke and Galal Yafai are guaranteed bronze medals at the European Boxing Championships.McCormack beat Ireland’s Sean McComb by split decision at light-welterweight to reach the last four in Ukraine.McGrail won through with a unanimous decision over Ahmed Chaouki El Ahmad.

Yafai beat Scotland’s Aqeel Ahmed to make the light-fly semi-finals, while Clarke stunned Azerbaijan’s Abdulkadir Abudallayev in a first round stoppage.Heavyweight Clarke caught the eye in stopping Abudallayev, who won European Championship gold in 2015.The event in Kharkiv marks the first time Britian’s boxers have had to qualify for a world championships, with places secured by reaching the quarter finals.So far 12 Britons have sealed a place at the Worlds in Hamburg in late August, 10 of which come from the elite GB squad, with two more in Ahmed and Sean Lazzerini, who compete for Boxing Scotland.GB Boxing’s Performance Director Rob McCracken believes the numbers qualified represents an “excellent achievement”.Five more English fighters compete in Wednesday’s evening session of quarter-finals, including Rio 2016 Olympian Pat McCormack, the only fighter in the squad with previous experience at a European or World Championships.Those through to the semi-finals will compete on Friday, live on the BBC Red Button, with finals taking place on Sunday.
